Terms And Conditions For Guild Training International (GTi) and Guild Accredited Training Centres.

The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd (The Guild) is the UK trade body for therapists, hairdressers and salons and is the largest and most widely recognised accrediting body for private training in the UK. Guild Training International (GTi) is the training arm of the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd, and provides high quality training courses that can be offered by Training Centres that meet the required standards. The Guild accredits over 1,000 Training Centres in the UK and worldwide which provide students with world class training and qualifications. By applying and agreeing to become a Guild Accredited Training Centre and/or offering GTi courses, the individual or organisation agrees to abide by and comply with the following general terms and conditions. The Directors of the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd reserve the right to withdraw Guild Accreditation or access to GTi courses status and remove from the website any Training Centre that fails to comply with any of the following general terms and conditions.

Copyright & Intellectual Property Rights

All Guild Training International courses and training information are subject to strict copyright in the UK and internationally. This includes, but is not limited to, online training modules, course manuals, module details, course syllabuses, video clips, certificates, downloads and all Guild Training International and Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd logos and images. No information may be reproduced in any form or any means whether electronic, mechanical and/or optical without the express prior written permission. Training Centres that offer GTi course must clearly state that the course they are offering is a GTi course. Training Centres must not breach the Intellectual Property rights of the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists by branding GTi courses as their own courses.

Training Centres that offer Guild Accredited or GTi courses should provide the following information to students which would normally be displayed on the school’s website or brochure.

About Guild Training International and Guild Accredited Training Courses

Guild Training International (GTi) Courses and courses that are advertised as Guild Accredited have been accredited by the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd, the UK trade body for beauty therapists and salons. These courses have been written to and assessed against relevant UK National Occupational Standards (NOS) and are recognised in the UK and internationally. GTi and Guild Accredited courses are acceptable to Guild membership and insurance and accepted by all major UK insurance providers.

Delivering Guild Accredited and GTi courses

Students expect and are entitled to receive the minimum required number of practical hours of training as described in the course details. In some case, additional training hours will be required if the Training Centre believes it is necessary before passing the student as competent to carry out the treatment. The Guild reserve the right to terminate or withdraw Guild Accreditation and / or access to GTi training courses from any school which fails to provide an adequate number of practical training hours. For the avoidance of doubt, where courses described as being 1 day require a minimum of 6 hours of practical training (not including breaks), and courses described as being ½ day require a minimum of 3 hours of practical training (not including breaks).

Remote Delivery and Assessment of Training

Delivery and assessment of training will usually take place in the classroom or salon, but schools are also permitted to deliver training and assess students remotely via a suitable video conferencing system where the tutor can communicate directly and in real time with the student(s), eg Zoom, Facetime, WhatsApp, Teams etc. Schools must ensure that students are provided with the minimum required number of training hours as specified in the accreditation details. Remote training is not accepted for courses that require advanced treatment insurance extensions (eg dermarolling, dermaplaning etc) and male and female intimate waxing.

Certification
GTi courses

Certification for GTi courses is managed and strictly controlled by the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd. On successful completion of a GTi course, the student will be able to access an electronic version (.pdf) of their certificate which will display the student’s name, course title, Training Centre and date of completion. Students have the option to purchase printed certificates through the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd. Training Centres that offer GTi courses are not permitted to issue their own training certificates for students who have enrolled on or completed any GTi course.

Branding and Use of Logos

There are specific forms of branding and logos that can be used in association with Guild Accredited and GTi courses. Training Centres that offer GTi and Guild Accredited training courses are permitted to use the relevant logos in their branding but must agree to abide by the following conditions relating to their use. The use of Guild Accredited or GTi branding must be clear and unambiguous and must only be used on pages that specifically refer to such courses. Guild Accredited and GTi branding must not be displayed alongside other training courses that are not Guild Accredited or GTi courses. This means that use of the logos on website headers or footers which are shown through the entire site can only be used if all training courses advertised throughout the site are Guild Accredited or GTi courses. Use of branding and logos are only permitted by Training Centres that hold current Guild Accreditation and where tutors of the accredited courses are current Guild members and hold the relevant insurance.

Guild Accredited Logo

The Guild Accredited Logo can be used in digital or printed form in conjunction with all GTi courses and any other courses that have been Guild Accredited. This logo is available to Guild Accredited schools by logging into the online account.

Guild Training International Logos

There are two forms of GTI logo that can be used in the branding of GTi courses. These logos can be used in either form to suit the layout of the Training Centre’s online or printed literature. These logos are only permitted to be used in digital or printed form on literature or advertising which is directly related to GTi courses. These logos are available to Guild Accredited schools by logging into the online account.

Guild Accredited Courses

Schools that offer Guild Accredited Training Courses (not GTi courses) who issue their own certificates are permitted to use the Guild Accreditation Logo. The name of the training course must match exactly the registered name of the course as it is listed in the Training Directory on Beautyguild.com. The name of the course tutor or tutors should also be displayed on the certificate. Use of the Guild Accreditation logo is strictly forbidden on courses that have not been Guild Accredited or where the Guild Accreditation for the Training Centre has lapsed.

Accredited Tutors

Practical training for GTi and Guild Accredited Training courses can only be delivered by tutors who are qualified in the subject area they are teaching and hold a recognised teaching certificate. All tutors of GTi and Guild Accredited Training courses must be current members of the Guild. Training Centres are required to provide details of all tutors who provide practical training for GTi and Guild Accredited Training courses, and agree to provide notification of any additions to teaching staff.

Guild Membership

Guild membership does not cover the £25 enrolment fee for GTi courses. Students who enrol on a GTi course must pay a £25 enrolment fee per course. Students who enrol on practical courses must also complete the Professional Standards for Therapists courses before they can commence any of the practical courses. On successful completion of their first practical GTi course, students will be offered the opportunity to upgrade to Full Guild Membership including insurance for £10 off the normal rate.

Conflict of Interests

There are GTi course available for the most popular beauty, holistic and nail treatments. The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd will not normally agree to accredit an independent course where there is a GTi course available unless there are significant differences in the techniques or where the course is related to a specific brand of product or equipment. Where there is a GTi course available, GTi and Guild Accredited schools will not normally be permitted to offer GTi course in subjects where they offer their own accredited or non-accredited courses as this would result in a conflict of interest. The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd reserve the right to withdraw access to GTi courses or withdraw accreditation on courses that the Directors consider give rise to a conflict of interests. In such cases, the decision of the Directors is final.

Legislation And Insurance

Training Centres are required to operate in accordance with health and safety and all other legislation as required by law in the country in which they operate. Training Centres are also required to hold an adequate level of employers, treatment, public and product liability insurance and agree to indemnify the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd and Guild Training International against any and all claims that may arise in their provision of practical training for Guild Training International students. Training Centres will be required to provide proof of public liability to the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd on an annual basis.

Complaints Procedure

The Guild strives to provide a world class standard of customer service. A formal complaints procedure is in place which is designed to settle any disputes as quickly and as fairly as possible. Students who enrol on GTi courses directly through Guild Training International or the Beautyguildtraining.com website can register a formal complaint by contacting us at info@beautyguildtraining.com. All complaints will be investigated thoroughly. If a complaint is made about a GTi Training Centre, the Training Centre will be sent a copy of the complaint and will be obliged to provide a written response within five working days. The Directors of the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd will make every attempt to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of all parties. Where disputes cannot be settled amicably by both parties, the Directors of the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd will decide on the appropriate action. The Directors decision is final. If a complaint results in a refund of course fees, the Training Centre may be required to refund Guild Training International for the cost of providing practical training up to a maximum of the full practical training fee. Where Guild Training International courses are sold to students through the re-seller scheme, the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists will respond to any complaints in a timely manner, however, the contractual responsibility for dealing with complaints lies with the re-seller.

Cancellations and refunds

Once a Training Centre has been accepted as a Guild Accredited Training Centre, any annual Guild Accreditation fees and course accreditation fees are non-refundable.

Lapse of Guild Accreditation

Guild Accreditation is granted for a maximum of 12 months and is subject to review and renewal on an annual basis. Renewal fees for Guild Accreditation must be paid before the expiry date and failure to do so will result in the Training Centre’s details and courses being automatically be removed from the Beautygulld.com Training Directory. Accreditation is also conditional on the tutors of all GTi and Guild Accredited courses being current Guild members and holding the appropriate insurance. Training Centres that allow their Guild Accreditation to lapse must remove all references to Guild Accreditation and associated logos from their website, social media, certificates and any other training or advertising material with immediate effect. GTi students have a right to expect their practical training to be completed by a Guild Accredited training centre, so if training centre’s accreditation lapses or is cancelled, the training centre will not be able to complete the practical training of student they have enrolled. Training Centres should therefore ensure that they do not enrol any students for practical training courses which they are not able to complete before their accreditation expires.

Termination or Withdrawal of Guild Accreditation

The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd reserve the right to terminate or withdraw GTi course or Guild Accreditation status from Training Centres that fail to abide by the terms and conditions or who breach the Guild Code of Ethics.
